What can Herbal medicine treat?

Herbal medicine practitioners can treat many condition that patients might take to their GP.. Sometimes herbal medicine will be an alternative and sometimes it will be an adjunct to prescribed pharmaceutical medicines.


What to expect from a consultation.

The first consultation may last up to two hours, so that a full case history can be elicited. You will be asked about your current symptoms, but also your previous medical history, previous and current medication, your general health, diet, and lifestyle. It is likely it will include a physical examination.


Prices

Consultations costs:

60 for a first appointment

40 for each follow up appointment

25 for a  30 minute/check in follow up phone  consultation

30 Low cost student training clinic first appointment

20 Low cost student training clinic follow up appointment


Medicines

Herbal remedies may be given in the form of tinctures (plant preparations in alcohol), herbal teas, powders, capsules, pills, syrups, ointments or creams.

Some medicines are sourced from sustainable and ethical suppliers; others are hand made from plants harvested by the practitioner and helpers.


Practitioner

The Herbal Barge is owned and run by experienced medical herbalist, Melissa Ronaldson.

Melissa is a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists; she qualified with a Bachelor of Science in Herbal Medicine in 2000 and has been in practice ever since.
